About

VISUAL AND CONTEMPORARY ARTIST

Messe Bidias Rackel is a 34- years old Cameroonian visual and contemporary artist who lives in France, in the vicinity of Geneva.

He started drawing and painting at an early age, art rapidly becoming his preferred way of expressing his emotions and opinions. Self-taught, he mainly creates large-format acrylic canvases. Favouring figurative effects, his art is neo-expressionist, inspired by contemporary art while anchoring itself in primitive African style. His artistic work is highly personal, using abstract forms, representing ancient African figures and symbols.

His paintings have been a way of building for himself a free world, condemning what he despises and claiming his aspiration for a peaceful tomorrow.

Thanks to the insertion of key words, his paintings deal with critical issues affecting today’s society, often illustrating the great suffering inequalities and discrimination create.

His artwork is also a message of hope and a testimony of the beauty that surrounds us: Using pop colours and reproducing patterns of African Wax fabric, he captures the energy and joy of a bustling African society. Messe has exhibited his work in France, Belgium, Switzerland, the United States, Cameroon, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He wants to get his art known by a larger public in Europe.
